The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park Completes First Phase of Fashionable Reawakening

The transformed New York City landmark hotel debuts new guest rooms, suites, Club Lounge, and La Prairie Spa for the fall season

With the change of season also comes the first phase completion of the multi-phase reawakening for The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park. The award-winning hotel has debuted all new guest rooms, suites, Club Lounge, and a refreshed La Prairie Spa, welcoming guests to a journey of new discovery. Phase two will begin in January 2019 and is slated to be unveiled in Spring 2019.

“With the first phase completion of our reawakening, the unified vision throughout the hotel allows guests to feel as if they are visiting their very own townhouse in the heart of New York City,” said Winfred van Workum, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park. “The creative reimagining of our guest rooms, suites, Club Lounge, and spa creates a heightened sense of place and serves as a gateway for travelers to experience the destination with ease and luxury.”

The vision and inspiration of the hotel thoughtfully weave New York City’s style and spirit through each new space:

Guest Rooms

Inspired by the city that surrounds the hotel, the newly designed guest rooms are a haven of sophisticated tranquility. Comfort and style set the tone with custom-made furnishings blending Beaux Arts classicism with contemporary flair to create an ambiance found only in NYC’s chicest penthouses. The color palette seeks to reflect the soft tones and natural shades of the great park on the hotel’s doorstep, with a pop of blush pink to echo the New York City skyline after sunset. Creamy ecru hues, custom carpeting inlaid with a Matisse sketch, and Fornasetti wallpaper of cloud formations can be found throughout the rooms, along with elegantly paired with framed photographs gracing the walls from many of the world’s best known artists as a tribute to New York’s fashion and cultural heritage.

A revamped honor bar allows guests to experience the ingredients of NYC in the comfort of their own room with a private single selection single barrel bourbon developed in partnership by the city’s oldest whiskey distillery – Kings County Distillery. In addition to the partnership, the hotel also aligned with a variety of other local brands such as North Folk Potato Chip, Tumbador Chocolate, Brooklyn Pilsner, while local fashion illustrator Mats Meyer added a touch of Central Park with a custom illustration on the packaging.

Suites

True to the residentially inspired style of The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park, the 47 suites inclusive of five Specialty Suites – the hotel’s rebranded Presidential Suites – welcome guests to escape to their very own pied-à-terre. Sprawling in size, the suites are arranged in a variety of updated and new configurations beginning with the Avenue View Suite category showcasing the bustle of the Manhattan streets down below, while the Premiere Park View Suite category provides a bird’s eye view of the park’s treetops. Custom furniture and artwork line the walls of all suites, every piece resonating the heart and soul of the building and its city.

The darlings of the reawakening are the two Legendary Suites, which are bold, new additions to the collection and create opportunities for living quarters up to four bedrooms. Bespoke furniture, distinct amenities, and expansive living areas elevate these suites to a new level of luxury. Adorned with specially commissioned photography from highly regarded artists, many from New York and tomes of fashion houses, there is welcoming ambiance of townhouse-inspired tranquility.

La Prairie at The Ritz-Carlton Spa

The only of its kind in the Northeast United States, La Prairie at The Ritz-Carlton Spa has been renewed as an intimate destination spa, uniting the elegant artistry of Swiss precision with the exclusive serenity and matchless hospitality of The Ritz-Carlton. Six distinct treatment rooms – thoughtfully renamed based on the words of the iconic Swiss brand – welcome guests to indulge in the world’s most luxurious skincare. Neutral tones cover the walls, paired with fleur-de-lis carpeting, and chandelier lighting. Drawing on the brand’s renowned products, the spa offers an extensive menu of facials, body treatments, and nail services as well as in-room indulgences. Exclusive to La Prairie at The Ritz-Carlton Spa, guests can also enjoy unique treatments that were created with inspiration from Central Park and the hotel’s signature scent.

Club Lounge

Situated on the second floor with views of Central Park, the design of the sprawling space infuses sophisticated dark wood-paneling, with vibrant shades of green, coupled with beige in velvet and leather fabrics and white Carrera marble accents, all framed to view the changing seasons of the park. New culinary and beverage enhancements invite moments of gathering for guests, whether for a pre-theatre glass of wine or a seasonal chef demonstration amongst friends, family, and fellow travelers. These transformations, along with the highly personalized service of a dedicated concierge and experiential programming available only to Club Lounge guests, creates the ambiance of a members only inspired lounge.

Beginning in January 2019, the second phase of the reawakening will encompass the lobby, lounge, bar, and restaurant. An enticing new food and beverage concept connecting these three areas will be introduced in Spring 2019 with the unveiling of these spaces. The hotel’s Mezzanine Level will also be transformed into a new wellness and fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment and on demand fitness programming.
