A captivating exchange with a dedicated professional determined to redefine hotel excellence!

Hello! Could you share with us your early days in luxury hospitality? How did your first position influence your career path?

It all started 20 years ago as a receptionist at a beautiful boutique hotel in Lyon. My first steps in this field were fascinating; I discovered a world where every day was different, and where interacting with guests was at the heart of my daily routine. This role allowed me to develop an excellent sense of service, as well as the ability to handle various and often unexpected situations. My ambition pushed me to want to learn more, perfect my communication skills, and better understand the guests' expectations.
Over time, I advanced within the hotel and took on new responsibilities. I worked in different departments, such as reservations management and event coordination, which gave me a more comprehensive view of how a luxury hotel operates. My ability to work under pressure and manage stress was strengthened, all while refining my attention to detail. My General Manager had detected a true commercial talent in me and recommended that I evolve in Sales which I of course did and have spent almost 15 years in sales & marketing.

Before becoming Hotel Manager at Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech, you held several leadership roles. What key skills did you develop in these roles that now help you manage such a prestigious hotel?

I held several leadership roles that allowed me to develop critical skills in team management, communication, and problem-solving. I also learned how to adapt to the evolving needs of our guests and how to craft experiences that go beyond expectations. In these positions, I refined my ability to identify business opportunities, optimize guest experiences, and build strong relationships with clients. This customer-centric mindset is key in managing a prestigious hotel, as I now apply it to enhance guest satisfaction and foster long-term loyalty. Additionally, I developed a more strategic vision for the hotel’s growth, which has been instrumental in my ability to drive improvements and maintain high standards."

Marrakech is a highly sought-after luxury destination. What do you think sets luxury hospitality in Marrakech apart from other destinations like Doha, where you’ve also worked?

Luxury hospitality in Marrakech is truly about authenticity. It’s not just about high-end amenities but creating tailored experiences that allow guests to immerse themselves in the local culture. While both cities are known for their luxury offerings, Marrakech stands out due to its rich history, vibrant souks, and the immersive experience guests can have in the heart of the medina. The contrast between traditional Moroccan architecture, the serene beauty of riads, and the opulence of modern hotels creates a distinct atmosphere. Guests are not only enjoying luxury but are also deeply connected to the culture and heritage of the city. In Doha, while the luxury experience is more modern and cosmopolitan, Marrakech offers a blend of high-end amenities with a sense of history and mystique that is uniquely Moroccan

How would you describe your leadership style, and how has it evolved through your experiences in luxury hospitality?

My leadership style can be described as leading by example with a focus on fostering a culture of excellence. In luxury hospitality, the bar is always set high, and I believe it’s important to model the standards you expect from your team. Over the years, I’ve learned that leadership isn’t just about directing people; it’s about inspiring them to take pride in their work and to strive for perfection in every detail. Through my experiences, particularly in fast-paced and diverse environments like Doha and Marrakech, I’ve learned to balance high expectations with empathy and support. My goal is always to create an atmosphere where excellence is the standard, and where every team member feels motivated to contribute to the success of the entire organization.

That said, a combination of strategic vision and accountability is KEY. I’ve always been someone who looks at the bigger picture, understanding that every decision we make has an impact on the long-term success of the hotel and the satisfaction of our guests. It's crucial to balance high-level strategy with a focus on day-to-day operations. I’ve also learned to set clear expectations and hold myself and my team accountable, while also fostering a sense of ownership and pride in their work

Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech is an iconic property in Morocco. What, in your opinion, makes this hotel stand out compared to other luxury establishments in the region?

There’s something special about this place that’s hard to put into words. It’s not just the stunning architecture or the lush gardens; it’s the way everything here feels effortless and natural. We provide a full-scale luxury resort experience, offering expansive accommodations, world-class amenities, and a diverse range of activities within a breathtaking scenery. Guests can explore the 18-hole golf course designed by Cabell B. Robinson, a world-class spa, and gourmet dining, all within a spectacular setting framed by the Atlas Mountains. We’ve embraced a family-friendly approach, whether you’re here for adventure, relaxation, or a little of both, we create an experience that feels truly personal. In a region with many outstanding luxury hotels, Fairmont Marrakech stands out for its combination of authenticity, service excellence, sustainability, and cultural immersion, making it a truly exceptional resort destination for luxury travelers.

Are there any trends or innovations in the hospitality industry that you find particularly interesting, and how do you see the future of luxury hospitality in the coming years?

The hospitality industry is continuously evolving, and several trends and innovations stand out, particularly in the luxury segment. One trend that I find particularly interesting is the growing emphasis on personalized experiences. With the increasing use of technology, such as AI and data analytics, hotels are able to offer highly tailored services that cater to the individual preferences of each guest. From personalized room settings to bespoke culinary experiences or curated itineraries, technology is enabling a level of customization that was once unimaginable. This shift toward hyper-personalization is shaping the future of luxury hospitality by elevating the guest experience and creating lasting memories."

Another key trend is sustainability. As travelers become more conscious of their environmental impact, luxury hotels are responding by integrating eco-friendly practices into every aspect of their operations. From energy-efficient building designs to waste reduction, sustainable sourcing of materials, and offering eco-conscious amenities, hotels are embracing green initiatives without compromising on luxury. I believe this trend will continue to grow, as guests increasingly seek out properties that align with their values and prioritize sustainability, while still offering the highest level of service and comfort.

Looking ahead, I see the future of luxury hospitality as a combination of cutting-edge technology, sustainability, and authentic, immersive experiences.

To wrap up on a personal note, if you were…

- A place: A stadium for the essence of dynamic energy, community gathering, and unforgettable experiences. Stadiums are more than just venues; they are epicenters of collective emotion, where fans come together to celebrate their passions.

- An accessory: A versatile watch, something classic yet functional, always adapting to the moment. It keeps track of time but also serves as a reminder to be present, blending practicality and elegance.

- A piece of music: A chill, instrumental lo-fi beat. Something mellow but with a little energy that inspires creativity and thoughtfulness

- A season of the year: I’d definitely be spring. There’s a sense of renewal and growth, with moments of calm and bursts of vibrant energy. It’s a gorgeous season here in Marrakech where the sky is so blue, Atlas Mountains of white as filled with snow and greenery everywhere! a real painting...
