For our two Michelin star Restaurant, we are looking for a personable Junior Sommelier with the desire to create unforgettable experiences for our guests.

As a Junior Sommelier at Vila Joya, you will be an integral part of our service team to curate memorable dining experiences for our guests.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the senior sommeliers in delivering exceptional wine service
- Assist in decanting and pouring wines during service
- Ensure flawless wine service, proper serving temperatures, and glassware presentation
- Provide basic wine recommendations to guests under the guidance of a senior sommelier
- Engage in friendly and professional conversations about wine selections and pairings
- Maintain a strong understanding of the restaurant's wine list and how it complements the menuSupport overall service excellence, stepping in as needed to maintain the high standards of the restaurantYour profile

Profil recherché
- Experience with fine dining, luxury hospitality preferred
- Knowledge of wine service techniques, including decanting and glassware selection
- Basic understanding of wine regions, varietals, and winemaking processes1–2 years of experience in a sommelier or service-related role in fine dining establishments
- Exposure to Michelin-starred or high-end restaurant environments is a plus but not mandatory
- Ideally holds an introductory-level wine certificationFluent in at least 2 out of 3 languages: Portuguese, German, and English (additional languages are a plus)
- Passion for wine and food pairing, with a desire to continuously expand your knowledge and expertise in the field
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage guests and build rapport
- Detail-oriented approach to wine service, with a focus on delivering exceptional experiences to every guestAbility to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
- Ability to collaborate closely with the senior sommeliers, kitchen team, and service staff

Vila Joya, an esteemed luxury hotel in the Algarve, Portugal, started its remarkable journey in 1982. Founder Claudia Jung began transforming her family residence into the tranquil sanctuary it is today, with every detail still showcasing her refined elegance. The hotel's culinary reputation soared with the arrival of Austrian chef Dieter Koschina in 1991. Under his guidance, Vila Joya earned its first Michelin star in 1995 and a second in 1999, cementing its status for gastronomic brilliance. Since 2003, Claudia's daughter, Joy, has skillfully upheld her mother's vision, blending modern touches with the timeless values that define Vila Joya.
