ELC & HOPE Latina: 17 Years of Empowerment Through Purpose-Led Partnership

At The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC), empowering women is not just a value, it’s part of the company’s origin story. For nearly two decades, ELC has partnered with Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE), a trailblazing nonprofit focused on advancing Latina equity through advocacy, education, and leadership development. Together, they’ve co-hosted Latina History Day in Los Angeles and expanded this initiative to other major U.S. cities, creating impactful platforms for professional and personal growth.

ELC has deepened its support in recent years, not only sponsoring HOPE’s national events like Latina History Day in New York City but also hosting powerful roundtables and thought-leadership gatherings aimed at bridging public and private sector voices in pursuit of equity, inclusion, and visibility for Latinas nationwide.

Inspiring the Next Generation at Latina History Day Los Angeles

In March, ELC played a central role in HOPE’s 34th annual Latina History Day Conference in Los Angeles, the city’s only large-scale professional gathering tailored specifically for Latinas. With over 1,300 attendees, the conference celebrated the theme “Inspire: Unleash Your Creativity”, encouraging innovation, networking, and community building across industries.

The program opened with an exclusive salon-style conversation hosted by HOPE and ELC, uniting alumni of the HOPE Leadership Institute with business, nonprofit, and government leaders to explore “Catalysts for Change”: a dialogue focused on how collaborative philanthropy can drive tangible community impact.

At the main event, five outstanding university students were honored as Future History Makers, recognized for their academic excellence, leadership promise, and community engagement. ELC celebrated their success with curated gift baskets and glam sessions led by M·A·C and Aveda artists offering more than recognition, but a truly affirming experience.

Christine Hall, Vice President of R&D at Aveda, participated in a panel on Inspiring Innovation, sharing her journey in sustainable beauty and offering practical advice to future leaders in the beauty world and beyond.

Throughout the conference, ELC brands including Clinique, TOM FORD, KILIAN Paris, The Ordinary, and M·A·C offered experiential product moments. At the Comadre Network marketplace, Origins joined Latina-owned businesses to highlight its Plantfusion line in celebration of wellness and inclusivity.

From West to East: Growing Impact in New York City

In June, ELC extended its reach to the East Coast, co-sponsoring HOPE’s 4th annual Latina History Day in New York City. The two-day initiative began with an immersive leadership development program for emerging Latina professionals. The training featured dynamic workshops, peer-to-peer learning, and brand-led skill-building designed to foster both confidence and career clarity.

The day opened with a hands-on skincare masterclass led by Sarah Lam and her team at Clinique, where participants explored their skin types and were introduced to the brand’s 3-Step System. The morning continued with an interactive session on leadership style and personal impact, facilitated by Susan Carroll, Executive Director of Education for TOM FORD, Balmain Beauty, Kilian Paris, and Frédéric Malle.

In the afternoon, Jaime Perez, National Makeup Artist for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, hosted a workshop on confidence and beauty, sharing insider tips from the brand’s most iconic products.

The evening concluded with a networking reception at ELC’s global headquarters, where leaders from multiple sectors gathered to recognize the participants and reaffirm their commitment to Latina advancement. Remarks from Barma Uruchima, VP of Global Value Creation and co-chair of ELC’s Hispanic Connections ERG, alongside HOPE CEO Helen Torres and two program graduates, made for a moving celebration of purpose-driven leadership.

Latina History Day NYC Luncheon: Amplifying Voice and Vision

The final day of programming brought public officials, business leaders, and changemakers together for the Latina History Day luncheon in New York, a showcase of Latina excellence and resilience. Speaking on behalf of ELC, Kaitesi Rama-Munroe, Director of Global Public Affairs, reflected on the company’s long-standing commitment to inclusion, citing initiatives like the Textured Education Collective; a coalition led by Aveda and Bumble and bumble as proof of action behind values.

The event also marked the release of HOPE’s latest Economic Status of Latinas Report, which revealed ongoing disparities in wages and representation, while offering concrete strategies for investment and policy change.

Attendees were gifted thoughtful packages featuring products from across the ELC brand portfolio, including Bobbi Brown, TOM FORD, Estée Lauder, Clinique, and Smashbox, reinforcing the connection between self-care, confidence, and leadership.
