A Dialogue Between Eras: From Renaissance to Futurism
Created in collaboration with the Mart (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto), the exhibition reveals a surprising parallelism between the 19th-century vision of barons Fausto and Giuseppe Bagatti Valsecchi and the 20th-century Futurist research of Fortunato Depero.
Both the brothers and Depero shared a common dream: transforming historic residences into "theatrical mechanisms" where art and daily life merge. While the Bagatti Valsecchi brothers recreated a Renaissance atmosphere in the late 1800s, Depero later designed his Casa d'arte futurista within a 16th-century building to consecrate his artistic legacy.
An Immersive Journey Through Theatrical Spaces
The exhibition offers a curated journey through works spanning from the 1930s to the 1950s. These Futurist masterpieces become "guests" within the permanent collection of the Bagatti Valsecchi House Museum, creating a unique narrative that bridges the dreamlike past with modern life.
To enhance this spatial dialogue, the A-Fact architecture studio has designed a bespoke setting that integrates Depero's creations into the residential context of the museum. The experience is further enriched by an immersive soundscape created by Gaetano Cappa, designed to transport visitors into a dynamic and festive world.
Supporting National Identity and Artistic Excellence
The exhibition highlights how both the Bagatti Valsecchi brothers and Fortunato Depero used architecture and art to establish a distinct Italian identity. The brothers' choice of Renaissance language mirrored the cultural program of the Savoy monarchy, while Depero utilized a magniloquent historic setting to celebrate his avant-garde persona.
By sponsoring this event, Gianvito Rossi reaffirms its commitment to Italian heritage, craftsmanship, and the continuous dialogue between tradition and contemporary innovation.
