Michelin Guide Unveils Expansive Global Hotel Selection for 2025

The highly anticipated MICHELIN Key distinctions are awarded to nearly 2,500 hotels worldwide, celebrating a new wave of vibrant and deeply personal luxury hospitality.

The MICHELIN Guide announced the global unveiling of the 2025 MICHELIN Keys, the prestigious hotel distinction that is the equivalent of the MICHELIN Star for restaurants. This year's reveal is the most expansive to date, updating selections across North America, Europe, and Asia, while simultaneously introducing the Key distinction to nearly 100 new countries across the globe.

Inspectors note a hospitality scene unlike ever before, one riding a wave of unabashed personality and vibrancy from the major capitals to the tiniest hamlets. In total, the 2025 selection features 143 Three-Key hotels, 572 Two-Key hotels, and 1,742 One-Key hotels, representing nearly 2,500 of the world's most outstanding accommodations, including everything from canvas tents in the desert to ancient riads.

Americas Unveiled: From Volcanic Jungles to City Gems

The updated selection for North & Central America and the Caribbean, now alongside new Keys in South America, highlights the continent's diverse offering. This region features more than twenty Three-Key hotels and robust new lists in tropical and cultural destinations, including a particularly strong showing in Costa Rica and St. Barts.

The inaugural South American selection—spanning Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and four other countries—includes five Three-Key hotels, demonstrating a flourishing luxury hotel scene with rich diversity in style, experience, and price.

· Nayara Springs, Costa Rica: The country’s first Three-Key hotel, an adults-only masterpiece nestled in the Arenal Volcano National Park.

· Las Casitas, Peru: Earning Peru's first Three-Key distinction, this awe-inspiring 20-acre estate provides an unforgettable luxury experience in the Colca Valley.

Across the Old Continent: European Grandeur and African Adventure

 

Europe, a perennial cornerstone of world travel, continues to lead in volume, with over a thousand MICHELIN Keys distributed across more than 30 countries. France leads the continent with 203 Keys, followed closely by Italy with 188, proving that the tradition of the Grand Tour is very much alive.

In contrast, the inaugural selection of MICHELIN Keys in Africa distinguishes the best hotels across a dozen countries. This landmark debut spans the luxury safari experiences of South Africa and Kenya, the historic riads of Morocco, and the beach resorts of Mauritius and the Seychelles, including six Three-Key hotels across four different nations.

· De L'Europe Amsterdam: Recognized as one of Europe's newest Three-Key hotels, this classic grand establishment continues its legacy of timeless luxury and fine dining on the banks of the canal.

· Royal Malewane, South Africa: This Three-Key safari lodge in Kruger National Park represents the peak of the luxury safari experience, offering ranger-led expeditions and elevated amenities.

Asian and Middle Eastern Destinations Debut

Asia receives significant updates, with Japan and Thailand adding to their existing lists and a brand-new Three-Key distinction for Asaba Ryokan. Crucially, Mainland China, India, Vietnam, and eight other Asia outrageous luxury n destinations receive their very first Keys, reflecting a scene spanning the foothills of the Himalayas to iconic beachside treasures.

Finally, the Middle East also gains its inaugural MICHELIN Key hotels, highlighting exceptional properties in theUAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and five more countries. This debut selection encompasses both the outrageous luxury of cities like Dubai and secluded escapes amidst staggering scenery, such as the remote Alila Jabal Akhdar in Oman.

 

The 2025 MICHELIN Keys selection is a testament to a golden age of hospitality, inviting travelers to explore the world through outstanding, passionately crafted hotel experiences.
