Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort Unveils Renovated Over Water Villas with Enhanced Features

Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort has unveiled its fully refurbished Over Water Villas, featuring a new category with larger pools, after four months of extensive renovations. Nestled on a picturesque natural island in the South Malé Atoll and surrounded by crystalline lagoon waters, the resort is ready to welcome couples and families into a rejuvenating vacation mode.

Drawing inspiration from the journey of a Maldivian boat over serene waters, the design theme for the Over Water Villas is "Sailboat Serenity." Stephen O'Dell and his team from the award-winning architecture and interior design firm SODA (Thailand) Ltd., have translated this concept into interiors that reflect the fluid lines and calming ambiance of a boat journey. The revamped villas blend the natural beauty of the surrounding water with interior spaces designed for ultimate relaxation and comfort.

The 40 Over Water Villas now feature a soothing color scheme of warm neutral tones accented with subtle blues, mirroring the tranquil lagoon. Outside, the addition of over-water hammocks in the Sunrise and Sunset Over Water Villas adds a playful yet practical use of space, enhancing guests' connection with the stunning environment.

A notable addition to Anantara Dhigu’s offerings is the Deluxe Sunset Over Water Pool Villas, featuring much larger infinity pools. Each of these exclusive villas offers 129 square meters of luxurious space, with direct access to the crystal blue waters of the lagoon. This new category increases the inventory of the resort’s highly sought-after sunset-facing pool villas.

Further renovations are planned for the year, including the introduction of The Yellow Fin Club, an exclusive bar. This new venue will complement the resort’s extensive dining options, where guests can savor global cuisines and learn about wines from the resort’s Wine Guru. From grilled meats and fresh seafood at Sea.Fire.Salt. to wholesome Italian fare at Aqua, and themed dinner buffets at Fushi Café, guests are offered a variety of culinary experiences.

On the neighboring sister island Anantara Veli Maldives Resort, guests can enjoy modern Japanese cuisine at Origami, dishes from Sri Lanka, India, and Maldives at Cumin, and Mediterranean tapas at Dhoni Bar. Baan Huraa, poised over water on the edge of a lagoon, serves coconut curries from Thailand’s southern provinces and spicy dishes from the north.

Guests also have the option of Designer Dining by Anantara, a private dining experience with a chef and sommelier.

Anantara Dhigu offers a wide range of activities for guests seeking both adventure and relaxation. Aquafanatics, the resort’s water sports partner, offers underwater discovery experiences, while Tropicsurf provides surfing lessons during the surf season. Guests can also participate in habitat preservation by adopting a coral through Anantara’s sustainability program with the resident marine biologist.

On land, guests can enjoy tennis, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, chess, Pétanque, and a fully equipped fitness center. Personal training sessions, boxing, Spice Spoons cooking classes, and treatments at the overwater Anantara Spa provide additional ways to unwind and stay active.

Conveniently located 21 kilometers south of Velana International Airport, Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort is just a 30-minute speedboat ride away, available 24 hours a day.
