A hidden legacy: The Azzedine Alaïa Dior Collection
In utmost secrecy, Azzedine Alaïa built a significant heritage collection reflecting the art of the greatest couturiers. Within this treasured archive, the House of Dior occupies a truly special place, counting some 600 pieces now carefully preserved by the Foundation.
For the first time, over a hundred of these historic Dior pieces will be unveiled at La Galerie Dior, emphasizing Alaïa’s profound respect for Christian Dior and the subsequent designers who shaped the Maison, from Yves Saint Laurent to John Galliano.
Captivating correspondences: the dual exhibition concept
In parallel with the presentation at La Galerie Dior, the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation is hosting a unique exhibition at its Paris venue. Curated by Olivier Saillard in collaboration with Gaël Mamine, this dual exhibition offers a new interpretation of Dior’s history while also revealing a series of captivating correspondences between Christian Dior and Azzedine Alaïa.
The exhibition seeks to draw intellectual and aesthetic dialogues between the works of these two masters:
“Christian Dior’s models testify to the never-ending quest that Azzedine Alaïa pursued with such passion. In search of the mysteries of dresses and the delicate structures that make vaporous petticoats ‘stand up’, he skillfully brought together the objects of his adolescent dreams,” comments Olivier Saillard, Director of the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation.
The exhibition LA COLLECTION DIOR D’AZZEDINE ALAÏA will run at La Galerie Dior from November 20, 2025, to May 3, 2026.
