Park Gstaad: luxury and peace in the heart of the Alps’ most popular ski resort

Reopened in 2017, five-star resort Park Gstaad, (Leading Hotels of the World, Swiss Deluxe Hotels), is situated in a wooded setting composed of birches and silver pines and offers a spectacular view on the Diablerets massif. The hotel is located within a five-minute walk from all the designer stores but is also withdrawn from the agitation of the Swiss Alps’ most glamour resort.
This first feeling of tranquility, deepened by the surrounding green areas and the rustling of the river, initially charms all guests.

Park Gstaad was the first hotel to open its doors when the resort was connected to the railroad network. At the time and until the end of the eighties, it was named Park Hotel Reuteler after the surname of the owning family.
The external architecture is traditional, with a frontage decorated with window boxes and wooden balconies. The whole building transmits serenity. But as one approaches, the feeling of luxury is immediately perceived. The garden hosts a private skating rink in the Winter and an outdoor pool in the Summer.

A cosy luxury, tribute to the mountain

When entering, the serene atmosphere continues: pine coating and slate colours generate a perfect harmony, supplemented by wool and leather-covered armchairs. A minimalist design, softened by a gilded light, confers elegant aesthetics to the setting. A Gucci shop occupies a large area of the lobby and sets the tone for this establishment’s sense of luxury.

The hotel has 84 rooms and 10 suites, distributed over five floors. Each room is designed as a tribute to traditional alpine interiors, blended with refined contemporary lines. Like all the hotel’s other areas, the clear pine panelling, contrasted by black granite, evokes warm but luxurious cabin interiors. The sober furniture, the warm and soft fabrics, the meticulous attention to detail and the modernity of high-tech equipment complete the chic ambiance.

All rooms have a balcony, either with a view on the mountains or on the forest.

The very pleasant bathrooms unfold the same black granite and fair wood tones. Aromatherapy toiletry amenities are provided.

Body and soul reconciliation

The hotel features a 1,000 m2-spa dedicated to well being, spiritual comfort and peace. The treatment choices offered in the ten available cabins include tailored aromatherapy treatments aimed at optimising the physical, mental and emotional state of the hosts. The spa also has a vast salted water indoor pool, heated at 32°C, ideal to provide pain relief from rheumatism.

The list of treatments include body and face massages, as well as hydrotherapy and balneotherapy treatments. The spa’s signature care include “The Ultimate Aromatherapy Experience”, a complete body massage intended to eliminate stress and reach complete relaxation, “Sleep Deeply” and “Pink Hydrator”, with a basis of Damask rose, aimed at sublimating the skin. Park Gstaad also features perfectly equipped sports and fitness centres, supervised by a specialized coach offering customised training sessions.

The hotel has two main restaurants. The gourmet restaurant Avenue Montagne delights its hosts in the capable hands of executive chef Fabrizio Crespi, with an innovating and healthy cuisine centered on seasonality and local foods.

The other restaurant, the Chubut, is decorated like a mountain cabin. Run by Argentinian chef Augusto Branas, its cuisine is generous and composed of fabulous wood fire grilled beef of lobster.

Nestled in the hotel gardens, Chalet Waldhuus is another restoration option, where guests discover local specialities, like the fondue and the raclette.

Every moment of the day and every preference has its own relaxation area. Park Gstaad knows how to ideally fulfil all its hosts. Cigar amateurs and other tobacco lovers will enjoy the Cigar Lounge. The Caveau offers wine tastings accompanied by cold meats and cheese. The Bar serves cocktails, as well as sushis. DJs entertain guests in the evening. Finally, the Library, with its cosy atmosphere, is perfectly adapted to enjoy an afternoon tea.
