A leader with a luxury and retail background

The Printemps group appointed Rémy Baume as CEO, effective 8 June 2026. Aged 50 and a graduate of ESCP and Columbia Business School, he has solid experience across retail, luxury and finance: after starting at Morgan Stanley and McKinsey, he held strategic roles at LVMH and Carrefour, before leading Kidiliz and then Zadig & Voltaire.

Ending months of uncertainty

The appointment ends long months of uncertainty regarding the leadership of the French department store network, following the departure of Jean-Marc Bellaiche last September. It comes as the company, owned by the Qatari fund Disa, recently announced a reorganisation plan including the closure of its Rennes store.

A new chapter for premium retail

Baume inherits a group in full transformation. It claims 20 department stores (including New York and Doha), 9 Citadium outlets, and several e-commerce assets, Printemps.com, Place des Tendances and Made in Design, for a total of 3,000 employees and 3,500 partner brands. In 2026, department stores are no longer limited to their historic distribution role: they must act as destinations capable of offering differentiating experiences and reinforcing their tourist appeal.
