Reaching new heights in New York

Situated on a full city-block in vibrant West Chelsea, the iconic twisting towers of The XI (“The Eleventh”), which rise above the Hudson River and the world-famous High Line, will be home to Six Senses New York.

Six Senses New York will live by all of our brand values with a particular emphasis on wellness, community and sustainable design. The latter is the result of our collaboration with visionaries Bjarke Ingels Group, Gabellini Sheppard Associates, Gilles & Boissier, Enzo Enea, Es Devlin and HFZ Capital Group. It draws inspiration from New York City’s classic Modernist structures and cultural institutions, to create an architectural form that is quite breathtaking. A prime project commitment is the intent to attain LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification.

“New York is the epicenter of business, finance, fashion, art, architecture, design and food,” says Neil Jacobs, CEO of Six Senses.

“West Chelsea is a bustling area, the art district of Manhattan and has a great vibe; as the area evolves, the shopping and dining just get better and better. And with the Hudson River on one side and the High Line on the other, it is the perfect location for Six Senses.”

Six Senses New York will be in the East Tower, No. X, which stands 300 feet tall. The hotel will feature guestrooms and suites designed by Parisian husband and wife team Gilles & Boissier, with interiors offering every modern convenience wedded to a calm ambience of natural-hued fabrics and furnishings. There will be two restaurants serving fresh, seasonal and locally sourced produce and ingredients and, naturally, a Six Senses Spa. Exciting plans are also underway to create a unique private members club as well as an innovative meeting space. Above the hotel, the condominium residences have also been designed by Gilles & Boissier to create a sense of tranquility against the dramatic backdrop of the ever-shifting city skyline.

“The traditional lines between a hotel or a residence or club get blurred, and people can eat, sleep, heal or meet in any order anywhere,” Neil continues.

“We wanted residents at The XI to have their own private Six Senses experience in addition to access to all the offerings provided to Six Senses guests. Six Senses is all about celebrating the best life you can, and surrounding yourself with like-minded people. Residential owners, hotel guests and local club members will have access to some of the coolest wellness programming in the world, innovative food and beverage options, plus interactive and unexpected guest experiences.”

The West Tower, No. I, standing 400 feet tall, features condominium residences designed by award-winning firm Gabellini Sheppard Associates. Rich materials layer the transition from public to private spaces and tell a welcoming story with stone, travertine, wood and glass. Each home is completely unique, with no two floor plans precisely alike, and the sweeping Hudson River and New York City views fall nothing short of extraordinary. The private Porte-cochère welcomes residents to separate entrances to each tower, while the elegant courtyard by celebrated Swiss landscape architect Enzo Enea provides an intimate serenity of outdoor space.
