Belmond Unveils Reimagined Slow-Luxury Icons: New Heritage Chapters Announced for 2026

Belmond, a global reference in luxury travel, is opening a new chapter in the evolution of its portfolio with the reinterpretation of several of its flagship properties and the introduction of new rail experiences. True to its Slow Luxury philosophy, the brand continues to pursue a vision of travel as a rhythm, an immersion, and a deeper connection with local cultures.

A Portfolio in Transformation

In 2026, Belmond will introduce a series of major projects: the reopening of Villa San Michele in Florence, a milestone year for Copacabana Palace, the launch of new Venice Simplon-Orient-Express routes, and the unveiling of Villa Timeo.
Each destination, profoundly rooted in the history of its region, is being reimagined by contemporary creative talents to carry its heritage forward with renewed and sustainable relevance.

CEO Dan Ruff describes this approach as “the creation of a contemporary legacy that blends relevance with heritage,” guided by sensory experiences, a long-term approach to time, and a more meaningful connection to place.

Reinventing Legendary Stays

Belmond is expanding its signature journeys, combining iconic hotels and heritage trains along immersive itineraries.
A new four-day journey will include Florence, Portofino, the Italian Riviera, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast, a first for 2026, before concluding in the Venetian lagoon.
Each itinerary combines restored Art Deco carriages, exceptional hotel residences, and bespoke experiences: culinary workshops, cultural encounters, archaeological visits, coastal excursions, or wellness rituals.

A New Chapter in Taste and Craft

Belmond is also strengthening its culinary vision through experiences focused on producers, regional traditions, and contemporary creativity.

  • Eastern & Oriental Express, Southeast Asia
The culinary series developed with chef André Chiang will return in 2026, welcoming three Michelin-starred chefs for gastronomic journeys that showcase the landscapes and flavours of Southeast Asia.
  • Royal Scotsman, Scotland
The train will introduce the “Tastes of Scotland” series, three itineraries dedicated to Scottish cuisine, led notably by Tom Kitchin and Lorna McNee.
  • Les Bateaux Belmond, France
Dominique Crenn will curate a new culinary season inspired by France’s waterways, with a new Bordeaux-region route including private visits to emblematic estates such as Château d’Yquem and Saint-Émilion.

New Openings and Creative Collaborations

In December 2025, Amura by Ángel León will open at Mount Nelson (Cape Town), offering an immersive experience centred on the marine world and inspired by the landscapes and biodiversity of South Africa’s southern coast.

In London, The Cadogan will open a new British bistro in spring 2026, led by chef Michael Turner and celebrating seasonal produce and London’s convivial spirit.

Also at Mount Nelson, designer Thebe Magugu will unveil an exclusive suite in January 2026, along with Magugu House, a hybrid space blending fashion, art, and cultural encounters.

Expanding the Editorial Line

Belmond is also enhancing its editorial initiatives through new collections developed with Assouline, Apartamento, and RVB Books. These publications explore the identity of each destination through photography, gastronomy, and cultural storytelling, extending the travel experience beyond the walls of the properties.
