LUX* Resort Grand Gaube, a luxurious retreat at the tip of a dream island
LUX* Resort Grand Gaube is located on a peninsula at the far north of Mauritius, overlooking Gunner's Coin island. Nestled at a stone’s throw from the fishermen village of Grand-Gaube, the complex is the ideal setting for an intimate and isolated stay. Set on a broad creek, it perfectly synthetises all the beauties that Mauritius has to offer: enchanting beaches for bathing, a mixed restoration offer and a well-being break to take care of oneself in a heavenly environment.
The hotel’s soft decoration, imagined by British designer Kelly Hoppen, features an ultra-chic, subtly vintage and eclectic style, sometimes tinged by a sense of nostalgia. Immaculate white and soft tones supplement the cocoon feeling conveyed by the thatched roofed buildings.
A homey feeling at the edge of the world
All 186 rooms and suites, as well as the three villas, are facing the sea. The interiors, tinted in soothing white tones, are brightened up here and there by soft colour touches. A system of shutters give the light-bathed open volumes an unobstructed view on the outside. Just like in common areas, the vintage and welcoming touches namely unfold in the rattan furniture and in the ceramic potted plants.

The resort proposes two room categories: superior and luxury rooms. The latter are two-storey and set out around a mangrove-lined bay. The very romantic Ocean Suites Junior are located on the second floor and have an external bath-tub with sea view.

Three swimming pools can be enjoyed on the complex grounds. One of them is adult-only and positioned at the edge of the peninsula. Another is located at the Lux* Me spa, which provides custom wellness care for the body, but also for the mind, using either oils exclusively created for Lux* by Shirley Page, or cutting-edge Carita treatments, combining scientific innovation and natural benefits. Physical well-being and weight loss are also in store. A barber is at the hosts’ disposal, also proposing whisky tastings, at the Murdock Barber Shop. The offers are supplemented by Kérastase capillary treatments and an Essie nail salon.
Spa
A large selection of activities are available: hotel clients may benefit, free of charge, of paddling, water skiing and/or tennis activities. The golf course of Mount Choisy is easily reachable by car in 15 minutes.
During milder days, a cinema is included in the complex, with studios offering telephone workshops on photography and drone flights. Seaplane trips and private dugout excursions also belong to the programme.
LUX Villa
Younger hosts are not left out: the children’s club Play has a variety of entertainment activities, like aquarium visits, art workshops and tennis lessons. Teenagers will enjoy Studio 17 and its vast offer: bicycle or boat outings, paddling lessons, and many other fun activities.
Ocean Villa
A culinary offer reflecting Mauritius’ melting pot
The resort’s restaurants present very diverse and international settings. Inti (which means Sun God) offers a Latin-American cuisine typical of the island in a cosy ambience. Beach Rouge proposes seafood to be enjoyed in a candle-lit atmosphere at night, with a stunning overlooking view on the lagoon’s magnificent waters. And for total relaxation, sipping a cocktail on one of the beach mattresses seems to be the perfect option.
Inti
With a name given in honour of the Turkish resort created in 2017, Bodrum Blue is equally romantic, with a meze- and kebab-inspired menu to be savoured in a Turkish-styled scenery, enjoying the sea breeze, as it is located on its own peninsula. The shisha bar is set on a peaceful terrace.
Palm Court mirrors the very elegant and vintage design of the hotel’s other areas and hosts a DJ in the evening.
