Rolex, Federer and DiCaprio: Four Unique Daytonas for a Landmark Charity Auction

Rolex will hold its first charity auction on September 28 in London, in partnership with auction house Phillips. The event is particularly noteworthy given the rarity of unique Rolex timepieces produced for public sale.

A four-piece collection inspired by the seasons

Named Four Seasons, the collection comprises four Cosmograph Daytona watches in platinum, yellow gold, white gold and Everose gold. Each features a distinctive dial incorporating natural stones, including chrysoprase, lepidolite, turquoise, ruby, lapis lazuli and mookaite.

Each watch is a unique piece, making the collection an exceptionally rare offering from the Swiss manufacture.

A sale supporting two philanthropic causes

All proceeds will benefit the Federer Foundation, which supports children’s education in Switzerland and southern Africa, and Re:wild, the conservation organisation co-founded by Leonardo DiCaprio.

According to Hodinkee, more than 1,000 potential buyers had reportedly been identified during the process of finding prospective purchasers, while the collection was estimated at around CHF 4 million. The auction also recalls the extraordinary market appeal of the Daytona associated with Paul Newman, which sold for nearly $18 million in 2017.
