Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has welcomed five new additions, including three newly-opened properties to its portfolio of luxury boutique hotels.
From the city Paris to the shores of the Mediterranean, check out the list of locations below:
Hotel Grand Powers, Paris, France
At the heart of the Golden Triangle in Paris and close to the Champs-Elysees, Hotel Grand Powers has been welcoming travellers from around the world for more than a century.
Following a complete transformation, the new five-star hotel will officially open on 4 January 2019. Original features such as mouldings and marble fireplaces are complemented by bespoke furniture and striking contrasts. Its rooms and suites feature high ceilings and large windows – some with balconies and Eiffel Tower views.
SLH Insider Tip: The Grand Powers restaurant serves up fresh, healthy and sophisticated fare skilfully put together by Chef Maxime Raab who previously made his name at Fouquet’s.
Terra Dominicata, Priorat, Spain
Originally part of a Dominican monastery, Terra Dominicata immerses guests in the heritage of its ‘holy mountain’. The calming colour palette of earthy tones complement the minimalist furnishings in the rooms and suites, including original stone walls that tie these spaces to their past. Outside, warm terracotta tiles lead to the pool, where swims come with Montsant Natural Park views.
SLH Insider Tip: The monks began producing Montsant and Priorat wines here– a proud tradition continued by the Terra Dominicata winery. In fact, the hotel wine cellar holds the largest collection of these famous appellations in the world.
Hotel Les Bords de Mer, Marseille, France
Standing beside Plages des Catalans and a short walk from the old town is Hotel Les Bords de Mer, which opened earlier this December.
Its gleaming white exterior complements the blue of the sea and the sky, while Mediterranean Sea views are the star of its rooms and suites. Depending on the room, guests could take them in from huge bay windows, or from the private balcony or terrace.
The hotel is SLH’s first in Marseille and offers cultural tours of the old town, as well as excursions further afield – from boat trips to Calanques National Park to wine tours of the Luberon.

The Frederick Hotel, New York City, USA
The Frederick Hotel is a glimpse of New York grandeur. This landmark gothic revival building has been welcoming guests since 1845.
Rooms and suites fuse elements of mid-century-modern furnishings and art nouveau-inspired details set against a minimalist, neutral colour scheme. Beds are made up with luxurious Frette linens and C.O Bigelow toiletries— all add an extra touch of indulgence.
SLH Insider Tip: Head down to the lobby and wander into Primo’s bar, which draws inspiration for its classic cocktails and delectable treats from the Italian Riviera.
The Franklin, London, UK
A stay at The Franklin means a trip back in time to a bygone era. Located in London’s leafy Knightsbridge neighbourhood, the property is just the right side of opulent with refined velvets and patterned wallpapers creating a sophisticated space. Additionally, dinner is served in The Franklin Restaurant, where Italian-influenced menus by Michelin-starred Alfredo Russo give seasonal ingredients star billing.
