Under the direction of the Head Concierge and the Assistant Head Concierge, the Porter stands as a pivotal figure in the delivery of our unparalleled customer service experience. Serving as both a guide and an ambassador, they are the very first to craft that all-important sense of welcome for our guests. The Porter assists in achieving goals and targets set, whilst maintaining and building on the reputation of the Hotel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Keeping abreast of newest trends and innovations in the hospitality industry.
· Generally being alert for opportunities to improve the profitability of the department i.e. through controlling wastage and being responsible for the economy of all utilities and resources.
· Taking a proactive approach to the team activities, anticipating potential opportunities.
· Maintaining effective communication within the department and ensure that the Head Concierge and Assistant Head Concierge are kept well informed of any problems/queries that have arisen.
· Reports any problems/complaints to the Head Concierge and Assistant Head Concierge.
· Safeguarding the journey of every luggage by ensuring the management of guest luggage (arrival/departure and storage) is recorded with the appropriate labelling & ensuring all luggage items are delivered to the correct rooms in a timely manner.
· Orchestrating seamless collaboration with every department, ensuring the harmonious flow of luggage logistics.
· Enlightening guests with insights into our hotel's offerings and local attractions, enriching their stay with bespoke recommendations.
· Extending a helping hand to guests with the loading and unloading of their belongings from their vehicles, while upholding stringent safety protocols.
· Anticipating and fulfilling every guest need, treating each request with the utmost care and attention,
· Ensures the Bell Desk, Lobby & Luggage Room are always kept neat and tidy.
· Greeting every guest with genuine warmth and hospitality, embodying the essence of courteousness and amiability.
· Providing attentive care to guests with special requirements, intuitively anticipating their needs,
· Upholding the esteemed standards of CORINTHIA quality with unwavering dedication and precision.
· Is fully conversant with the Corinthia Employee Handbook.
· Maintains the security of the hotel, safety of staff and guests and safe cash handling practices
· Drives the Corinthia values and philosophy.
· Understands and be fully conversant with the weekly rota, passing on leads to ensure it reflects the latest business needs and fluctuations (last minute pick-up, groups, etc.)
· Is aware that working night shift hours is a requirement, to assist in the efficient and effective 24 hour operation of the Department.
· Understands and be fully conversant with the agreed systems, standards of performance and job description.
· Observes all safe handling and OH&S requirements with regards to carrying and loading luggage.
· Ensures the Bell Desk and Luggage Room are always kept neat and tidy.
· Assists in valet parking guest cars as and when required.
· Informs the Head Concierge and Assistant Head Concierge of all operational incidents that may affect the business or have an impact on guest services, and assist in appropriate follow up to all incidents.
CONFIDENTIALITY
· Whist working for the Company there will be access to a wide variety of confidential information concerning the Company, guests and employees.
· It is vital that all such information remains confidential and must not be disclosed to anyone outside the Company, guests and employees, unless otherwise stated. Please refer to the Employee Handbook for full policy details.
HEALTH & SAFETY
· To be aware of and comply with safe working practices as stipulated by the Health and Safety Act and as applicable to your place of work. This will include the incumbent’s awareness of any specific hazards at the work place.
· The wearing of appropriate protective clothing provided by or recommended by the Company will be obligatory.
· To report any defects in the building, plant or equipment according to hotel procedure.
· To ensure that any accidents to staff, guests or visitors are reported immediately in accordance with correct procedures.
· To attend statutory Fire, Health & Safety training and to be fully conversant with and abide by all rules concerning:
§ Fire, Health and Safety
§ Regulations, such as COHSS in the European Union, related to the control of substances hazardous to health.

· As the hotel’s level of business varies considerably, there is a need for flexibility in attitude, approach and working hours.
